DECISIONS
It is estimated that the average person makes between 300 and 17,000 decisions every day.
(Joel 3:14)
Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.
(Matt 4:18-20) 18 And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. 19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. 20 And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.
BECAUSE THEY DECIDED TO FOLLOW JESUS THERE ENTIRE LIFE WAS CHANGED, AND THEY IN TURN CHANGED THE WORLD
YOUR WHOLE LIFE AND OTHER'S CAN BE ALTERED BY JUST ONE WRONG DECISION
KING DAVID
(2 Sam 11:1-5) 1 And it came to pass, after the year was expired, at the time when kings go forth to battle, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried still at Jerusalem. 2 And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king's house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon. 3 And David sent and inquired after the woman. And one said, Is not this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite? 4 And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness: and she returned unto her house. 5 And the woman conceived, and sent and told David, and said, I am with child.
THE CONSEQUENCES OF WRONG DECISIONS
(2 Sam 12:1-12) 1 And the LORD sent Nathan unto David. And he came unto him, and said unto him, There were two men in one city; the one rich, and the other poor. 2 The rich man had exceeding many flocks and herds: 3 But the poor man had nothing, save one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and nourished up: and it grew up together with him, and with his children; it did eat of his own meat, and drank of his own cup, and lay in his bosom, and was unto him as a daughter. 4 And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him; but took the poor man's lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him. 5 And David's anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan, As the LORD liveth, the man that hath done this thing shall surely die: 6 And he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity. 7 And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul; 8 And I gave thee thy master's house, and thy master's wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things. 9 Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon. 10 Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife. 11 Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun. 12 For thou didst it secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.
(2 Sam 12:15) And Nathan departed unto his house. And the LORD struck the child that Uriah's wife bare unto David, and it was very sick.
(2 Sam 12:18) And it came to pass on the seventh day, that the child died......
THE DECISIONS THAT WE MAKE DON’T JUST AFFECT US, BUT IT AFFECTS THE PEOPLE AROUND US.
HOW DO YOU MAKE THE CORRECT DECISIONS?
(Matt 7:7-11) 7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. 9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? 10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
(Prov 3:5-10) 5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. 7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. 8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. 9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: 10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
COMMENT: (1) This means that if you are a Christian (you have repented of your sins, accepted Jesus Christ as the sacrifice for your sins, and you are serving Christ, doing as He would have you to do.) (2) No matter what happens in your life you are trusting in Jesus Christ. (As a baby trusts it’s parents.) (3) Everything that you get ready to do (decisions) you bring first to Jesus Christ in prayer. You ask for His guidance.
Prov. 3: 6 said that if you would do these things that the Lord shall direct thy paths.
Prov. 3: 7 Tells us not to think of our self so great, that we are the one making all the blessings in our life come to pass. It tells us to fear the Lord, and depart from doing evil things. Then it says that if you would do that it would bring you health. Prov. 3: 9&10 Gives us a promise from God himself, that if we would honor the Lord with the things that we have (Luke 6:38 “give and it shall be given unto you”...) that He would see to it that we have more than enough. “ So shall thy barns be filled with plenty”
BUT ALL OF THE BLESSINGS OF GOD BEGIN WITH A DECISION.
THAT DECISION IS TO LEAVE YOUR OLD LIFE, AND COME AND FOLLOW JESUS.
(Joel 3:14)
Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO FOLLOW JESUS?
(1) The disciples left there boats, there fishing business, and ended up being tortured and died for there belief in Jesus Christ.
(2) Many of the first century Christians, and many even today have given up there lives for the honor of serving Christ.
(3) It means to come out from among the thinking and attitude of the worldly crowd. To follow, and practice the love and Godly principles laid out in the bible.
(4) To follow Christ you die to your self, and live unto him. What you want is not what’s important anymore. It's what Christ wants that becomes your goal in life.
WHAT IF YOU CHOOSE NOT FOLLOW GOD'S DIRECTION
Prov 1:24-31 24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; 25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: 26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; 27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you. 28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: 29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: 30 They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. 31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
COMMENT: You can see that making the wrong decisions can be extreamly costly. Making the wrong decisions not only cost you in this life, but most important it has everlasting, eternal consequences.
Deut 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
MAKE THE BEST DECISION YOU WILL EVER MAKE IN YOUR LIFE, CHOOSE TO FOLLOW JESUS.
