IT'S A SIN
(l John 5:17) "All unrighteousness is SIN"
Definition: (SIN) From Strong's Greek dictionary reference 266 (hamartia) [ham-ar-tee-ah] Offence, Sin. The word comes from reference 264 (hamartano) [ham-ar-tan'o] which is from the root of reference 3313 "meaning to miss the mark" (and so not to share in the prize), to err; your faults; offend; sin; trespass.
From Zondervan Bible Dictionary, "Sin may then be defined ultimately as anything in the creature, which does not express, or which is contrary to the Holy character of the Creator. Sin then is not merely what we do but what we are. There is sin in our race and in our nature."
"Sin is any want of conformity to, the expressed or implied directives of the creator.
(I John 5:17) "All UNRIGHTEOUSNESS is sin"
Definition: (UNRIGHTEOUSNESS) Strong's Greek Dictionary, Reference 93 (adikia)
[ad-ee-kee-ah] from Reference 94 (adikos) [ad-ee-kos] meaning legal injustice.
(Properly the quality, by implication, the act) morally wrongfulness (of character, life or act) iniquity, unjust, unrighteousness, wrong, wicked, treacherous.
(Isaiah 54:17) ..."This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their Righteousness, is of me, saith the Lord".
(Isaiah 64:6) "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our RIGHTEOUSNESS are as filthy rags"...
Definition: (RIGHTEOUSNESS) From the Strong's Hebrew Dictionary (ts-daqah) [ydrf-se-kse] Reference 6666 and 6663 meaning justice; rightness; virtue; make right; cleanse; clear self; be turned to righteous.
From Zondervan Greek Bible Dictionary: (dikaiosyne) Meaning rightness, making right, justification, as judged by the standard of God's holy law, which is derived from His holy character conformity unto, or transgression of, the law of God."
CONCLUDING DEFINITION OF SIN
From the previous definitions you can see that the definition of SIN is anything you do, say, or think, which is not what God would say, do, or think is sin; or anything that you don't do, say, or think, which is not exactly what God would not do, say, or think becomes a sin of omission.
If your life in any way is short of being just as God you are a sinner.
Now, let us look at some scriptures concerning sin.
(Psalms 51:5) "Behold I was shapen in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceive me".
(I Kings 8:46) ..."For there is NO MAN THAT SINNETH NOT"...
(Proverbs 21:4) "An HIGH LOOK and a PROUD HEART, and the PLOWING OF THE WICKED, is sin."
(Proverbs 24:9) "The THOUGHT OF FOOLISHNESS IS SIN"...
(Psalms 14:3) "They are ALL gone aside, they are ALL together become filthy: there is
NONE THAT DOETH GOOD, NO NOT ONE."
(Galatians 3:10) "...CURSED is EVERY ONE that continueth not in ALL THINGS which are written in the BOOK OF THE LAW to do them."
(James 2:10) "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet OFFEND IN ONE POINT,
he is GUILTY OF ALL."
(Romans 5:12) "...For that ALL have SINNED.'
(Galatians 2:16) "...For BY the WORKS of the LAW shall no flesh be JUSTIFIED."
(Romans 3:10) "As it is written, there is NONE RIGHTEOUS, NO, NOT ONE."
(1st John 1:8) "If we say that we HAVE NO SIN, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us
(1st John 1:10) "If we say that WE HAVE NOT SINNED, we make him a liar, and His word is not in us. "
(James 4:17) "Therefore to him that Knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him IT IS SIN.
(James 2:9) "But if ye have RESPECT TO PERSONS, ye commit SIN, and are convinced of the law as transgressors."
(Galatians 3:22) "But the scripture hath CONCLUDED ALL UNDER SIN, that the promise BY
FAITH of Jesus might be given to THEM THAT BELIEVE.
These are just a few of the many scriptures that show man is born in sin, has a sinful nature, and will continue to be a sinner until he dies.
If you say you have not sinned His word is not in you. If you say you are not sinning now you are deceiving yourself, and the truth is not in you. If you show more respect to your children, husband, mother, dad, etc., than you would a stranger, you have committed a sin.
According to James 4:17, if you know you should be visiting the sick in the hospital, or you should be ministering to the shut-in, in the jail or in the nursing home, or you should not eat that cake when your already over weight, or smoke that cigarette, or waist your God given time watching things on T.V. that are unprofitable, you are committing a sin.
There are many people who are proud of themselves because they say, "I'm a pretty good person--I haven't killed anyone, stolen, cheated, etc." The scripture says if you offend in just one point you are guilty of all. If you have not kept the law of God completly and never broken a commandment, you are guilty of braking all the commandments. It's all or none, with God. We will not be graded on how we compare with everyone else around us, we will be judged on the law of God. And not keeping every bit of it, is the same as not doing any of it.
Now, you can see why the definition that I gave you at the beginning of this book said that anything in thought, word or deed that was not just as God would do, would cause you to become a sinner. And what is the consequence for being a sinner? "THE SOUL THAT SINS SHALL SHURELY DIE" (Ezekiel. 18:20)
There is a reason for the law of God being so stern, and now that God's Word has shown us that we are lost sinners, doomed for damnation, let us look at God's Word for the solution.

(Romans 8:1-2) "There is therefore now NO CONDEMNATION to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the spirit. For the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath MADE ME FREE from the LAW OF SIN AND DEATH."
CHRISTIANS TRYING TO PLEASE GOD BY THEIR WORKS INSTEAD OF BY FAITH.
(Galatians 3:1) "O foolish Galatians who hath bewitched you, that ye should not OBEY THE TRUTH,...?"
(Galatians 3:2) "...Received ye the spirit by the works of the law; or by the hearing of FAITH."
(Galatians 3:3) "Are ye so foolish? having begun in the SPIRIT, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?"
When people made their salvation dependent on things that they do or don't do, instead of on what God has done for them, they make Christ of no effect (Galatians 2:21). They make the Christian religion the same as all the other pagan religions of the world. Where righteous works make you righteous with God. A Christians good works have nothing to do with there salvation. A born again Christian does goods works because they are born again. Because they are born of the Spirit of God, they want to do godly things. This does not mean that Christians are purfect in the natural realm, but God who sees things in the faith realm, counts them as though they were already a reality. And If your faith, or desire, your hope, is to be Christ like, then God will take the substance of things hoped for, and count them as though they were, and this is true savation. This is the truth that will make you free, free from condemnation, free from fear.
If you have never been born again a new creature in Christ Jesus, it is very easly to do, all it takes is a desire, and a made up mind that you want to serve Jesus Christ. He has alreay paid the price at the cross, for all the sins you have ever made, or ever will make. But we are all free moral agents, and God has given us the option of making the decision. If you will repent,
(be sorry) for being a rebellious sinner against God and his Christ, and ask Jesus Christ to forgive you of every sin you have commited, and then ask him to come into your life, and be the central part of your being. If you will do that, this is what the bible says will happen:
(Ist. John 1:9) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
(Luke 15:10) Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.
(Rom 6:22-23) 22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. 23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
(John 5:24) Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
(John 3:36) He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
(John 3:16-17) 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
